If you can’t buy it, make it
I’ve been watching “Thank You” and I saw a shirt that I absolutely must have! I looked online for something similar, but I have a feeling it’s something out of season in Korea now. It’s basically a long white v-neck tshirt with a large plaid bow in the front.
A few hours later, I decided that I needed to catch up on Bryanboy’s blog, and I saw this:
Okay, so I don’t want this Lanvin shirt because it’s really way too fabulous for me. And yes, way too expensive! I think it’s like 600 euros!
With my faith in the Internet renewed, I googled some more. The closest thing I found was this dress on Yesstyle:
Yeah, I’m not feeling the $68+shipping price tag AND it doesn’t look like the shirt the girl was wearing on the show.
As I was getting ready for bed, all I could think about was this t-shirt. Then I thought about how I could just look in the closeout store downstairs for some v-neck tees, go to a Joann’s Fabrics store after work for some fabric for the bow, and then sew the shit together. Voila—my very own t-shirt with an oversized bow-tie.
So now I’m awake, looking up fabrics for the bow-tie. I guess it really depends on the 2456 (the AA shirt I’m considering). But for now, I have my mind set on satin or taffeta. I think I’m also going to look around to see what else there might be. I guess you can only do so much browsing on the Internet.
The final step in putting together the bow and the shirt will require some assistance. I’m not a sewer or anything, but I know this woman who does the sample sewing and I’m hoping that by learning the phrase, “Can you sew this for me?” in Chinese will woo her into doing it. I know it would be easier if I asked my own mother, but it’s always cooler when you have the hook-ups.
You know, after looking at all of these pictures of shirts with bows on them, I’m kind of afraid it will end up looking like Sailor Moon. Jeez, I hope not.
