Mike & Anne’s

So we went to Mike & Anne’s, a hidden gem in South Pasadena. I am sure a lot of hardcore Pasadenians know about this place, but for those of us who rarely go north of Fair Oaks, it was an absolute pleasure to discover.

They serve brunch until 230pm, so we got there around 130, but didn’t order anything until 2pm because of a certain lady named LOIS WU.

When she arrived, Selina (who happens to be a new member of our elite dining group) was shocked when she saw the battle scars on Lois’ arms. I’ve been taking them for granted since I see her, like, every flippin’ day.

After we ordered, it took a while for the food to get to our table, but we had a lot of fun cracking jokes at Lois’ expense. The food took so long, in fact, that we ordered another plate of sweet potato fries after we killed the first plate.

They are REAL fucking good. If you decide to try this place for yourself, GET A PLATE OF THIS BUSINESS. No, get TWO.

So after we obliterated half of the second plate, the food finally came.

Jennifer (the second addition to our elite dining group) ordered an omlette, not really sure which one, but it came with morning potatoes and toast, $9:

Lois ordered the Mike and Anne’s Burger (Angus beef, Bermuda onion compote, swiss and Blue cheeses, with shoestring fries), $9.50:

Selina ordered the Challah Bread French Toast (thick slabs of challah bread dipped in orange vanilla batter served with maple syrup), $8.50:

I ended up going with the Breakfast Quesadilla (honey baked ham, bacon, scrambled eggs with jack and cheddar cheese, served with house made avocado salsa), $9:

It was DELICIOUS. I ate all of it in 5 minutes. No lie.

But in retrospect, I think I only say this because by the time this quesadilla came to sit in front of me, I was already starving. At that point, I would have deemed ANYTHING delicious.

I liked everything about Mike & Anne’s—from the food to the umbrellas hovering over our table to the charming decor of the buildings in the plaza. I loved it all. I would definitely come back here for brunch on a warm weekend morning. Actually, I liked the food so much that I would go back to try their dinner menu.

You can come here on a casual date, with your family, and with your friends. The atmosphere is just so relaxed that it’s hard not to feel comfortable sitting out on the patio, or even inside the restaurant.

I’m sure the others agree:

Lois was totally looking at me when this picture was taken. Now, it may seem like the look stems from a deep annoyance, perhaps even hatred, but I assure you, dear reader, that that look on her face is a look of LOVE. Same with that obscured thumbs up.

Selina loves it, means it! She sealed the deal with a kiss.

As for me? Well, take a look for yourself:

HAHAHA. Jennifer’s the greatest. I really can’t say anything about this. The picture speaks for itself. And here bangs are AWESOME. I want them.

So yes, get your ass over to Mike & Anne’s. It’s real damn good.

After your brunch/lunch, you should definitely check out that cute crafts store next door. It was so hard to resist buying everything. Even this hat:
